I will get an automatic. Possibly with the paddle shifters if available.

 

Stick shift will make this car 10x more fun so thats why I'll only get it in that

Stick shift makes driving a car 1000x times funnier. Can't even consider the auto option

 

I am with you ScionFan. I wrote to both Toyota and Scion to let them know if they announce the IQ with the stick I will be the first one at my local dealer with a deposit in hand. With a CVT, not so much. I know that automatics are on the verge of becoming more efficient, but I don't care. A manual just feels better, especially with a small low horse power car.

 

Ya do not think the paddle shifters will happen afterall it is a budget car

 

Depends on which gets better mileage and the gap in mileage between the 2 modes.

Well, the 08' Corolla's had paddle shifters. Perhaps you could make it work but I doubt they will come stock. Email Scion about it!

I agree with emailing Scion, car companies are listening and if you don't tell them what you want, they will only assume they are doing what the market wants. Let them know, you are the consumer!

 

They even monitor our websites as well. I get contacted by car companies all the time looking for information. It is the best part of forums IMO.

That's a good mention Trent, I would not be surprised if this becomes a popular car for parents to buy their teenagers as a first car. It will be sporty, good on gas and fairly inexpensive.

 

Don't need a bunch of teeny boppers driving IQs and sky rocketing the insurance rates, steer away parents!! lol

Stick shift, unless they come up with paddle shifters that work. The ones on the Honda Fit have some lag in the lower gears.

A CVT is the only way to go! I will never go back to a manual trans or some 4,5,6,7,? speed auto, want to be a CVT trans. Just put it in drive and push the GO peddle to GO!

i'd go manual. but it really all depends on weather they release a manual version in north america or not.

 

On my daily 120 mile round trip through sometimes ridiculous traffic, automatic is the only option. I really like high mileage, but a previous stick car took a real toll on my knee over years of ownership.

I'm nervous about the CVT but expect good things from Toyota. I drive an XD now and occasionally switch from D to 3 for a boost, but rarely need it.

 

I voted for the manual Scion iQ but I fully understand the problem with daily driving a manual in a busy city with ridiculous traffic.

what was your previous stick car?

I'll be getting the Scion iQ with a manual transmission, expecting it to be tons of fun
