Traction Control

Hi all, I was trying to turn off the traction control to see if it makes any different to the MPG and the driving. I found out that the traction control turns on automatically every time the speed go above 33mph, so I have to turn it off at every stop light. Does it happen to you too? Anyone tried?

once mine is off it is off untill i turn it back on or turn off and restart the car,it should remain off if you turn it off.when i push the button once it turns off traction controllor if i push and hold it turns off traction control ans stabillity control.
I never thought of that, I'll have to check next time I'm driving and let you know.

I tried it this morning. It works :) The traction control stay turned off. Need to push and hold the button in parking (P) mode.
The car is more responsive with the traction control off.
How I see it and with my past experience, traction control off is always fun ;)

I doubt it will make a noticeable difference with MPG's. Driving habits play a big role with your MPG's! I use to drive like a race car driver everywhere now I drive like a granny.
I'm planning on getting the TRD rear sway bar, after installation the trac control off will be a full time option. LOL
TAZ,
You now have the rear anti sway on. Have you turned off traction control? Can it be turned off all the time or does it have to be turned off at each start up?

I didn't even think to try. I'll give it a shot over the weekend. The iQ is in pieces right now getting ready for SEMA in Las Vegas.
Why would turning off traction control improve gas mileage? The way I understand it, if traction control detects a slip, it applies some brake to the slipping wheel forcing power to the other wheel (open transaxle sends power to the wheel with the least resistance). True, the brake is on slightly for one wheel but that wheel wasn't providing traction anyway so you're not losing power as it gets diverted to the other wheel.
I've never had a car with this option and I'm looking forward to our first "Good" Snowfall here in Ohio to play with it ! Yippee.....
My 2012 IQ traction control light came on after I installed Megan coil-overs and I can’t turn it off.

Did/Are you able to read the code(s)?
Not coming up with any error codes. I took the car to another repair shop and they couldn’t find anything.
