I had installed a shark fin antenna from Beat-Sonic USA when I first got the iQ and it looked great with the Scion rear wing. Once I changed the wing to the FIVE:AD body kit wing it looked a little too large. Eric from Beat-Sonic gave me a new smaller shark fin antenna today and I installed it. I think it looks much better with the FIVE:AD wing.

The original shark fin antenna...

Comparison of the two...

The new smaller shark fin installed on the iQ...

Many thanks to Eric, Daichi and Sam at Beat-Sonic USA.

The reception is the same with both antennas. The lines are more defined on the larger one but it just looks too big IMO.

I wasn't sure before, but after seeing the side by side shark fins I noticed that the paint isn't the same color. Is it just me or is the body kit and bigger fin a more yellow/white color?
They actually are the same color. Using a point and shoot camera in my garage under fluorescent lights doesn't make the best photographic conditions.

I meant a difference in reception from the stock antena?
Sorry, my bad. The reception is as good as the stock antenna. I have great reception on AM/FM and HD channels.

the new one seem better quality, don't forget to specify the good color if you by it...

Scion iQ Colors: Black Sand Pearl (FDA5-209)
Blizzard Pearl (FDA51-070)
Classic Silver Metallic (FDA51-1F7) Magnetic Gray Metallic (FDA51-1G3)

Keeping mine stock. I love the toy-remote-control-car-esque look of the single pointy-up stick antenna. Saw a stubbier one I might screw on for next to nothing someday. The shark fin goes well with all the extra body molding on yours though.

I've seen some of the stubbies with colors added to them. Some are extremely cool looking.

I got mine installed. I went with the one from Visual Garage. Beat Sonic did not have my color and I did not want to have to take it to the body shop for paint. Visual Garage had it in stock and I had it in a few days. If my car was clean, I would post a picture. I need to wash it tomorrow.

Hm...I wonder if a different mount can be found without the rearward pitch. That pitch makes the stick directional and weak stations fade in and out as you squirrel around town. Need one that sticks straight up, or even leans forward to counter wind elasticity.

From the pictures the smaller one appears to have a thicker rubber base under it. Is it actually thicker, or is it just because it's not installed/stuck on yet?

The smaller one does indeed have a rubber base to it. The larger one sits flush to the body.

so with the larger one, because it is attached using 2 way tape,do you have to make sure the tape is trimmed perfectly for a good look

Yes, it will need to be trimmed. You can line up the tape to the outer edge of the fin and do the trimming on the inside where it can't be seen.
