Looks like Scion has included a cool little feature with the iQ to help you get better MPG. Located on the dash is a light, called the Ecolamp - when the driver is driving the car efficient the the ecolamp will light up.

Smart idea by Scion!

I would find blinking light on the dash (even a non blinking one) annoying enough to tape it over.

I think that is a good idea. Gives you something to do on a long trip. I would definitely use the light and make a game out of it somehow. I always do with stuff like that.

Drive one tank so the light is never on and drive another tank where its always on and compare the results!

It seems like most new eco-friendly and hybrid cars are going more advanced gauge clusters and other things revolving around the best gas mileage to let the driver know.

Scion just having a single little light seems cheap....but I guess its to the point.

the ECO lamp works in conjunction with two other gas saving devises the ECO driving indicator display.
using this to show instant fuel consumption and average fuel consumption, are both located in the multi information display.

They/It works very well in my opinion.
