I know we are all mourning the loss of the large screen that was present in the Scion IQ concept, but no worries, Scion says that it will be offering multiple headunit options with the IQ. What car audio plans do you have for your IQ?

I'm a lover of music, so I'm kinda hoping that the stock stereo in the Scion IQ will be pretty good so I don't have to spend money upgrading it. As long as I can connect my iPod to play through the factory system, I'll be good.

It will be for the wife so she will be more than happy with just a basic cd/mp3 player. Has their been word if it will have XM Satellite radio capabilities?
That's a good question... I haven't seen or heard anything yet about XM Satellite Radio capabilities with the IQ... hopefully it will be available as an option... worse case scenario, you can just get the portable unit.

For those that owned Scions, maybe they can comment on the stereo systems they use.
Good call... it would be nice to see what others use so that we know what works with what Scion provides. I don't see the IQ interior being that different in terms of installing an aftermarket deck and speakers. If you decide to go with subs in your IQ, you would really have no truck space at all

I never thought of that with regards to the subs in the trunk. Either the subs will be something that you have to sacrifice or be very creative in how you install them as to maximize the cargo space in your Scion IQ.

I would imagine you would need some type of sub box that fits in a truck in order for this car as the back space is very limited.
Something like that or have 2 smaller boxes mounted on either side of the trunk... I don't know the specifics of the IQ's trunk, but I'm sure that subs will fit somehow... it's just a question of whether pounding bass or cargo space is more important to you.

Would love to not have to upgrade the stereo system on a brand new car that I just bought, so I am expecting Scion to put some decent stereo in the iQ
Well, it depends what you are used to I suppose. I am used to aftermarket stereos so I will be changing out the stocker for sure. The big question is where to put the sub(s). Hopefully there will be a lot of room under the seats or something as I know the trunk is very limited.

theres gonna be more than enough options as far as car audio goes. just a matter of how deep your pockets are. lol. theres a lot of options as far as shallow mount subs go. for headunits i'd probably go with a single din flipout screen.
