I love that stuff. Looks great. Just a suggestion, hit those side mirrors with the Plasti Dip, could look awesome and if you don't like it just peel it off.
Seconded. Great time to get rid of the 'doesn't match aything' silver. Looks great though, i was thinking of using it to change my car from black to red but in the end went with the wrap
.....You are probably about 99% right about the mirrors color not matching anything, but, I'm
the 1% exception, as my aftermarket wheels and my mirrors match quite well....which makes
them blend and not stand out so much.
Looks good. My son did the same thing with his Yaris, never quite understand why. He says all the guys that rally race do it. Maybe to help protect the paint some ? Gets damage and just peal off and touch up ?
Thanks a lot guys! Yeah, I'm planning on hitting the mirrors too, I just ran out. Between Lowes, Home Depot and Westlake I could only scrounge up 5 cans.
I think the silver mirrors and the matching silver facia trim on the lower fore and aft probably accounts for maybe no more than 3%, but it is something.
Otherwise, not a look I'd go for, but I am impressed that the product worked out so nicely for you.
I'm not sure how well it will hold up to a wash. I've seen youtube videos of people powerwashing their plasti dip and it turned out fine. I'll probably be heading up to the car wash later this week to test the waters myself so to speak.
I'm in the process of prepping my iQ to Plasti Diping. I'll be adding stripes to test it out and might change it later. Will post pics when it is all finished, if i find out how to post the pics that is haha.
Keep us updated on its durability and and any issuses with peeling and such, im so suprised this stuff adheres to sch an untraditionally prepped surface. Peace.. Brent
Mine failed. I just tried doing it on the "iQ" part first and that was a total fail, bubbled up and had to be removed. Shouldn't have done it on a windy day LOL
Well it's been a while but I finally took it to a power wash. I ran it through the automatic wash and in the pressure wash bay and it held up great. No rips, tears or peeling. I'm thinking about peeling it off soon and just doing a thick red stripe down the passenger side and hitting the mirrors with the red too. If I do I'll post pics.
Thought I would give an update. I peeled the stripe off yesterday and it left a very faint orange stain in my clear coat I'm going to have to buff out. I guess I know what I'm doing next weekend. From now on if I'm going to do any striping on the paint it will be vinyl.
