Low Fuel Indicator Warning Light??

15407 Views 17 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  Sir.Winsalott
I've taken my iQ down to "E" twice, now. The first time, the fuel gauge was on the last bar and was blinking and it took 6.5 gallons to fill it.

This past tank, I drove it 310 miles and was sweating it worrying about running out of gas. But it took 7.5 gallons to fill it so it really had a gallon left.

But WHY doesn't the low fuel indicator light come one? (I have two other Toyotas and the warning lights work just fine.)

I usually don't drive my cars down to below 1/4th of a tank but since this is my commute car I'd like to know my limits and WHY the fuel warning light isn't coming on. (Maybe time to have it checked at the dealer?)

there's a low fuel indicator light?
Yes, it's listed in our documentation but I'm not sure if it's actually hooked up.

It's on page 4 in this PDF..

Hmmmm.....maybe we don't have a yellow warning indicator (which is a gas pump) like in my other Toyotas.

I just did turned the key on to light up all the lights (when it runs through it's start-up checks) and didn't see one.

I thought I had solved the mystery BUT then sat in my wife's Corolla and did the same (and I KNOW where her yellow warning light is) but it's not one of the ones that comes on when it runs through the start-up check.

So my question to Toyota (Scion) is if something isn't broke, why did you have to go change it? (My other Toyota's not only flash the light but they have audible beeps when they come on.)
