Has anyone noticed that the instrument cluster is pretty dark without the lights being turned on? This is my free DIY solution to using the ambient lighting during the day to illuminate the cluster. The brightness will vary due to the angle of the sun but in most cases the speedometer is much more visible most of the time now. It's just a paper receipt folded in half and glued down with some rubber cement to the steering wheel. The front edge of the paper is glued flat at the front edge of the top of the steering wheel while the back half is glued down right before the horn cover edge. It's angled back towards the driver at about a 60° angle. I might add some black material to the back part that's facing the driver.
