I noticed that the iQ has a serious blind spot issue so I went and built my own custom blind spot mirror design using some off the shelf items. The materials I used were an old credit card fer the base, VHB tape to secure the card to the A pillar, a Scosche Magicmount as the adjustable mounting unit, and a Utopicar glass blind spot mirror. I ended up sticking the steel plate on the mirror backing so it would stick to the magnetic mount. This will allow the mirror to be removed without any issues or if the air bag deploys. I repeated the same on the right side. ;)

Yes, I understand that the mirror could become a projectile and bounce around in the cabin but I'm willing to accept that over the blind spot. ;)

One would ask the question...why mount the mirror on the inside? Well, the mirror on the inside doesn't have the same issues that the outside mirrors have when there's precipitation on the outside mirrors. Most of the time, any precipitation on the door glass won't affect the interior mirrors as it's a different focal plane. ;)

Looks like I'll need to attach a safety retention line to the mirror and the base so if/when the mirror gets knocked off the base, it won't just fly off in to the parts unknown. ;)
