Fitment Questions (16x6 ET42 w/ 195/55R16) from Newbie
I've recently acquired a 2014 Scion iQ used as an eco-daily, and to be a bit more practical than dailying my now heavily-modified sports car that's getting converted to track-only usage. One of the things I noticed was that the stock wheels are steelies w/ hub caps and that the stock tire size didn't have any really good quality tire options. After a bit of research it looks like I can get forged 1 piece wheel in 16x6 ET42 or ET41 4x100 PCD from Volk (TE37 Sonic and TE37 Sonic SL), and with the extra width should be able to run a 195/55R16 instead of a 175/65R15.
My main purpose here is to run lighter weight wheels for improved fuel economy and acceleration and get more tire compound options, specifically I plan to run Michelin AS/3+ UHP all-seasons, as these have some of the best wet and dry braking performance available from an all-season tire.
Anyone know if these tires/wheels will fit? Using generic online wheel fitment calculators, I'm pretty sure they will, but I will be moving things out several mm towards the fender, and I'm not sure how much size flexibility the car has with stock suspension. I don't intend to do any other modifications at this point, just really thorough maintenance.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
