    Wiper Control Upgrade {Variable/intermittent}

    Being in SoCal rain isn't a main issue but when rain does happen I like the option to change the windshield wiper intermittent speed delay. Not sure why Scion didn't install wiper control from the factory with intermittent delay. Install takes around 30 minutes and is ready simple. Will post pictures of install later. List of wiper controls available to use: if you have removed the rear wiper;
    • 2007 Lexus 84652-50150
    • 2008 Toyota 84652-02610, 84652-12A20
    • 2005-2008 Toyota 84652-04141, 84652-02710
    • 47031-17F177

    The difference between the two is that the text.

    With rear wiper:
    • 84652-48060
    • 84652-48180
    • 84652-0E050
    The difference between the two is the symbols and text on handle.

    Install:

    With a small screwdriver press in tab and hold while pull down on bottom section. There are two tabs so don't try and separate bottom from top without releasing left and right tab.

    Disconnect harness clips from wiper control

    Use a small screwdriver push down on tab and pull out on wiper control at the same time.

    Insert new wiper control in reverse and you are done.

    Nice! Does this let you have an intermittent rear wiper?
    About how much does the part run?

    Rear wiper does not change for delay only the front wiper.

    Junk yard around $40 - 50 or ebay best offer around $30 - 45

    Hint: If buying from a junk yard only give part number not the vehicle type otherwise they will raise the price.

    If I still had the rear wiper I would be all over this. Nice find Mike.

    Actually, Taz, if you look he posted numbers for the version without a rear wiper as well.

    Sadly it doesn;t do much for people with rears, but being able to change up the speed on the fronts is nice.

    Now if only there was a stalk that handled the rear wiper circuit with an intermittent setting...

    I had such an animal with our not otherwise popular Sienna van. It only had two settings, "intermittent" and "on", along with an infinitely variable front setting for "on" for the front wipers, but it was still the right way to go.

    Good job AtomicMoJo! I ordered mine off Ebay for $35.00. For those of us that have installed the cruise control, this will be a breeze!
    Wish someone would find a dome light to replace the map light this easy!

    A guy named Phillips on the Toyota Scion board over in Merrie Ol' England has just such a package, with a very bright (and less focused) front LED in the stock "eyeball", plus a simple to wire (no soldering on your part) rear LED that lights up the back as bright as day. Look elsewhere on this board for greater details, or hie yourself over to Toyota IQ Club - Toyota Owners Club - Toyota Forum for more details.

    I have sold two of these units for him over here in America - his work is just that well executed.

    That looks like the one from a first gen xB. Should help quite a bit with the lighting situation.

    Good job with the wiper stalk. I did the same with my 1st gen Yaris HB, using another Toyota part. I too will add this to the list of things to do on the car. Thanks for including the part numbers and install instructions.
