From experience with an old car, try adding some freon and see if the compressor will start. It will detect low condition and disable to protect itself. (Just the shade tree mechanic in me. I got the instruction from the side of a DIY freon can)...

With my IQ I have hi pressure on the low side, where I plug in to add refrigerant.
The pressure is high enough I don't think I can add any more...

Surprisingly, high pressure (at the low pressure port) is exactly what I saw in that old system I mention, when my compressor stopped working, due to me adjusting the freon amount incorrectly. I will try to search the information I pulled from Toyota Tech Info. Compressor will stop working both low freon AND high freon. First symptom as I kept adding was it would run intermittently, on off, on off, on off... Be right back...

First step recommended is verifying battery voltage is between 11 and 14 volts. If below 11 recharge the battery.

Second advice is to use Techstream to pull any DTC codes. First note, then clear the codes and see if they come back. Try to force the AC to work by simulating DTC, (I assume with Techstream)...

Is it blowing air, but not cold? (This is under no DTC output).

First step is verify freon amount.

From instructions on replacing the freon, it notes an interesting way to refill: approximately 100 g (3.5 oz) refrigerant needs to be added after bubbles disappear. So if you see bubbles in the sight glass it would seem to be low. Add until bubbles disappear, then add the approximately 3.5 oz (100g) more.

I have a diagram that shows the magnetic clutch relay is there but I don't know which relay is which.

There is some youtube videos of people claiming these relays go bad in Toyota's so it's another possible lead for me

I found this one on a Toyota forum but I have the complete 2012 Scion IQ wiring diagram book if you need anything - I don't mind scanning some pages.
I think I am allowed to share that info...

It doesn't really show how to remove trim or components - just mainly wiring diagrams.
In that downloaded I provided there is a folder called Extra with the Toyota IQ repair manual in it which gives good detail on how to access everything.
I find it very difficult to navigate if you don't know much about cars but it's there. Also with the IQ I find EVERYTHING is easy to access. It's all pull tabs. I've never had a car so easy to take apart from the inside

Hi, I have exactly the same problem (I think) that you were having. Were you able to solve it?

It does seem he solved it - see Comment #20 on the second page. It has a nice summary of what was done and how.

Unfortunately the guide is broken. I downloaded it twice but it says it is broken when I try to uncompress it.

Use the free WinRar if you are on Windowns. Just tried it and it worked fine.
