Whats the best way to break in a new iQ

so when i pick up mine what would be the best way to break it in? some people believe in doing a hard break in while others believe in doing a soft break in. which one do you recommend and why?

I always believed in a hard break in. That way everything seats pretty quickly. Doing a soft break in leaves too many things to chance in my opinion.

^I partially agree with what youre saying. But the problem with that is the manufacturer already puts a certain amount of miles before it even gets delivered to you. Also add to that the amount of miles thats added when its delivered and you almost 100% have missed the period when you can do a hard break in. So I always do a soft break in.

so what do you recommend the maximum mileage allowed to still properly do a hard break in? not saying i would do a hard break in over a soft break in. but just in case i do decide to go that route.

Most of the folks advocating "hard break in" don't acknowledge that different cylinder materials have different break-in requirements. What may work for cast iron cylinders isn't best for other materials such as steel, or nikasil-lined aluminum. Follow the manufacturers' recommendation.

I didn't go over 75mph during the first thousand miles. I hovered mostly around 60-65mph when I took it on a 1,050-mile road trip with my iQ having only about 400 miles on the clock. It was nice because I drove along the California coast on Hwy 1 -- a very mellow cruise! That's how I broke it in. Easy. Whether it was the right way or not, it was a way I was more comfortable with and none of my cars or motorbikes in the past have failed me with that practice.

Everyone has their own opinion on how to break it in. But the most important thing is that you don't actually break it when you do the break in. So whether you decide to do a hard of soft break-in just don't push it past what its supposed to handle.

1,000 miles. That's the part everyone agrees on, how you break it in, that's the part where everyone has different opinions.

and surfcity local,would you think your iq is fairly heavier than the stock iq,i wonder how much if at all it would be with your airunner suspension and bigger tires and rims,my uneducated guess may be around 40 lbs,and you still hit 100mph.

I would think it's actually close to the stock weight. I have lighter wheels and tires than the stock ones and the rear seat has been removed. Should be pretty close to stock weight.
