Information on Scion Navigation System 200

As I understand it, this unit will work with the Scion iQ, particularly since it is listed in the 2012 accessory catalog (and, I believe in the 2013 one as well - I can't find that one).

We have a 2012 Scion iQ, and I want to install a stock navigation unit in same. My son has connections in the car industry, and has been told that said connection could get him the unit for a big markdown in new form, if only he could supply the SKU of the appropriate unit.

I have searched for the SKU, but without success. I know that there is an extensive British website with copies of all of the install sheets, but the numbering system there doesn't make any sense and there are tons of Toyota units described.

Can anyone help me out here?

Remember SKU's are specific For a store id number of an item. Some atores Run just with UPC's white are universal or serial numbers. You should look For serial numbers or model numbers instead. If I see one, wouldn't you markdown 2 of them?? Lol ;-)

Not sure if this is any help, but the Scion Navigation System 200 is also known as a model #NSDA-W10U and has a Scion part number of PT611-21111-TB

I'll be interested to see what kind of discount you can get.

THe boy is pretty good with procuring stuff. He's the Western Hemisphere operations manager for an international retail corporation, and is constantly making "contacts" with inside folks as he keeps his corporation's retail systems (both physical and computer) up and running.

For example, he gets me free hockey skates and equipment, much of it from two different pro teams. Computers are a dead cert, even Apple Computer equipment.

But, he could just be blowing smoke. We'll see.

Hope he is not blowing smoke. Mine was two thousand from the dealer. I really like the unit but would have been happier with a lower price.

Yup, but not at a discounted price. My son's "connection" could get me all sorts of other name brand stuff at a deep discount, but not the Scion 200.

Even though it is "discontinued", and no longer offered as an option, the Scion 200 unit is a drop in fit and works perfectly with the in place vehicle harness ON THE 2012 MODEL OF THE CAR. Operation is much more straightforward than the aftermarket units of our acquaintance, and it mirrors the unit mounted in our 2008 Scion xB almost perfectly - the only operating differences are with features not offered on the 2008 unit.

Why this option was discontinued is a mystery to me, just like why there is no OEM cruise control offered on the iQ. I know that this is a "low end' car, but even those who buy low end cars take extended trips on the highway now and then. Both items are of use for such situations.

I send a "six month" letter to the manufacturers of each car that we have purchased. These two items are going to be high on the listing included with that letter. But, after a full month of experience with the vehicle, we are more than satisfied with what we have got. Just like the xB and just like the smart Passion, the iQ has its flaws. But, it is far more like the former than the latter.

We plan on using the xB as our "van" for at least another hundred thousand miles. It will haul our equipment (with its box trailer) for our musical group, and will serve as the "big" car for going camping. But, for all of the other vacation use, it looks like the iQ will be the go-to vehicle.

Thanks for the update. Mine's arriving Thursday along with the rearview camera. I'm excited as a kid but a little nervous about the installation. Now if only I could come up with a good solution to the lack of interior lighting...

    Our solution to that has been to add the following;

    1) Footwell lighting kit, a Scion accessory

    2) Lighted doorsill plates, also a Scion accessory

    3) The Scion lighting control kit (required for 1) and 2) above

    4) A Gentex/Mito auto dimming mirror, which also has (as part of its installation) a pair of LED map lights (as well as a compass and a temperature probe). You can get these through any auto accessory installer, and you can get them with garage door openers built into them as well). The lights come on through switches on the mirror, and when the doors open as well. They project down and slightly back, illuminating the front seat area.

The combination of the three light sources has brightened up the cabin considerably. There's still a "dark hole" in the back seat area, but we only use that for storage, so that's not a problem.

What would have really addressed the problem would be the dual light console that we had installed in our Scion xB. Those lights flood the interior every time they come on, and the xB even had a light back in the back of the car.

Why Scion/Toyota chose to light the iQ with the pathetic "eyeball" LED is beyond my ken. Of course, I can't understand the omission of cruise control and navigation from the Scion option list. Go figure.
