    Center Armrest Purchased

I really miss not having a console or center armrest to rest my arm on
while driving, so......I just purchased a universal armrest off of ebay
that, once I get it, I will dress the sides up and configure a mount
between the seats......I may or may not have wasted my money,
because if it don't look "factory good" when I'm done, I won't use it,
    stay tuned.....

Here's the link where I bought it:

Hey mistergib, I'm right with you on missing an arm rest. I solved the storage problem from an earlier post by buying a storage box from Target. It works well and looks great but seeing that arm rest with built in storage at $25 what a buy! Please keep me informed about how it goes with the install. Pictures are a great thing and I hope you can snap a few during and after the install.......

Will do. It's coming from Bulgaria, so it will take a couple weeks to get
here. The seller is a major seller with over 8,000 various items sold, so
I'm not too worried about getting ripped....just hope it's a quality piece
that gives me something decent to work with?

I'll definitely be doing more postings as I progress with it.....

Nice, but let me ask as far as the size, like the height is it as least like 20" high so your arm is level ?

20"??? Thats way too tall for me, I just want to lean ON it, not AGAINST it (lol).
I did go out and do a mock-up trial before I ordered it, and I figured if it was minimum
14" high that it would work fine for my particular physical dimensions....don't know
about meeting yours though? I'm about 5'9" and 155lbs., don't take much for me. The
narrow width will be fine if securely mounted, so I'm not worried about the width.

I can also adjust another couple inches by the way I mount it, but I just went out
and stuck a tape measure up to 20".....again, thats just too high unless you are
trying to get your elbow way high in the air for some reason? Mine will probably be
a max of 16", which I think would be perfect....?? I guess it all depends on the feel
you are after? At 20", that puts your arm within 2-3" of being at shoulder height.

That was level at 20" as it was same height as the pieces from target which has perfect height but will double check again.

I think it's gonna boil down to personal preference, I don't want mine
at 20", I think that it would look weird being as narrow as it is, a full width
one might be fine at 20" ?? Maybe you have a longer torso than me??
Lets just wait and see what I come up with when finished.....if its fugly, or
dysfunctional because of its height, it won't be going in my car.....

Out of curiosity, what did you find at Target, did/do they carry a universal
    console or armrest for cars??

Went to Target for the basic storage container and found an "add-on" to this system. A secondary container with a lid! (itsco half fabric bin with velcro lid - bar code: 0 25947 39531 6 ) The thing is packaged in folded form and expands to a perfect fit! It's dimensions are 12-7/8 L x 6-6/16 W x 13-3/16H. It can be used instead of the initial box or on top of it. This combined setup gives you two storage containers (as it lifts easily off the initial box) AND an armrest. Without the inital box it was too low for me to use as an armrest. For some combined may be too high, for me it was just right. Some may want to place something else underneath the tall box to get the armrest height perfect for them. Some may also want to place a towel or something over the tall box for a little extra cushion for the armrest but it is already fabric covered and a perfect match to the initial box and the iQ interior IMHO! Hope this helps some folks. PS I looked around Target and didn't see anything I could use as a cruise control (my Target didn't carry bricks, lol).

    03-26-2012,
mistergib, here is the post for more storage. I bought both at Target but I didn't like how high the box was with both pieces and just one is to short for an armrest. It's also kinda of flimsey but it's a great storage. I really like what you found and hope it works. Please, Please , keep us informed and pics !
