hood chips.

upon washing my iq today i discovered a couple substatial chips in my FRESHLY painted sattan black hood,shitty,it will be fixed friday.i sure am glad i am on this forum,i have learned many things,and here i thought i knew everything,HA.thanks surfcitylocal,you mentioned the clear bra idea that i didnt even know exsisted,i will be gettin the entire front of the car done in a couple weeks,and hood of course.a fairly pricey applkication,but im sure it will be money well spent.i allsdo wish i had learned about this before i had the hood painted for the fact that i may have went with the carbon fibre hood wrap???any thoughts on this cuz the price is the same as the clear for the carbon look and i may go with the carbon wrap??i guess i could go ahead and if i dont like it underneath will be my sattan black hood.thanks for any input.

I have a buddy who does the carbon fiber vinyl hood wrap on the first gen xB for 100 bucks. I'm sure the iQ would be less considering the size difference. What area do you live in?

hey there surfcitylocal,im the guy in chilliwack, british columbia canada,i was at one of the very few places that offer such service yesterday,paint will be fixed on friday,then i will book to get the paint protection applied,i was quated at 160$ for the hood which i am doing first and 360$for the front of the car,mirrors included,but now that you got me thinkin,AGAIN,i could use the 60$ i would save if i seen your guy for gas and come see him HA HA HA,great excuse for a 20 hr drive.i like your price much better.as compared to mu nissan cube that had the hood done,it didnt get 1 chip in three years,but the iq hood sits much lowere and angles down.so thanks again for mentioning the wrap.do you think the carbon wrap would look okay,or should i just go with the clear wich would just show the sattan black,i ask you for the fact that you obviously have WAAAAAAAYYYY more car mod experience.peace.

The satin black looks great but I'm also a fan of the carbon fiber. It's all up to your taste and style. They would both look great.

Yes, it is removable and the color will last quite a long time. It's a much better grade of vinyl than what was available a few years ago.

Sorry but the paint has more than enough time to cure whilst shipping! Thats unless you're going for a full respray once you get it. Japanese paint is well known for being soft, if you want hard paint you go to someone like the German's (Audi/BMW)

well throw me down and call me berniece,so i did surfcity local,HA HA HA HA,nice one.lol.you had mentioned the iq will be in the sema show,is that show allways in 1 location,does it ever come to vancouver.where is the one you will be attending,i just got my 5 weeks hollidays and me and my WAY better half are looking to do a roadtrip.now that would be something to think about.FISH AND CHIPS.LOL
