    Side mirror modification...

I ordered some side mirror lights from eBay and they came in the mail today! I'll be installing them this weekend provided the fit is correct. They were sold for the Toyota iQ so I'm hoping they will also fit the Scion. I'll post up pics of the finished product. These lights ad the "welcome" LED's that shine down when the door locks are activated.

That is the idea. I'll fit them this weekend and hope they match.

I finally got the mirror lights installed today. They fit perfectly into the stock locations and I think they look great. It was a lot more work than I expected but worth the time and effort.

    Some pictures of the lights.

    Welcome lights...

    Turn signal...

    Running lights...

    All lights on...

    Close up pictures...

After installing the lights it was time for the first wash and wax of the iQ. Sure doesn't take long, another advantage to having a small car.

Looking good, and the puddle/welcome lights are brighter than I expected.

Sorry, the welcome lights come on when the doors are unlocked, they dim to off when the ignition is turned on or the interior light times out. The running lights and turn signal on the mirrors are connected to the stock running and turn signal leads so they work the same.

I'm confused. Are the white lights in the turn signals ON all the time when the headlights are ON?

Yes, those are the running lights. The white welcome lights do not stay on when the car is started.

    OK. Last question, I think:
You're calling them running lights. Do they only come on with the headlights ON, or are they DRLs that come on when the engine is started, without the headlights or parking lights being ON?

    Thanks.

I use the term "running" light. Some may call them "parking" lights. They are not however DRL's. The running lights come on when the running/parking lights of the vehicle are turned on. They remain on when the headlights are turned on. The turn off when the vehicle running/parking lights are turned off. I hope that explains it better.
